Frequently Asked Question
Use this article to learn what each part of Video & Audio Settings does.
While the camera runs, the settings are gray. To change them, click Stop. When you are done, click Start.
The source list
The list on the left shows your sources, with an icon for each type. Below the list, + Add Media Source adds a source.
The settings of the selected source
- Enable (a switch) turns the source on or off.
- Test RTSP shows a test video of the source (see below).
- Type: the kind of source, for example Screen or Webcam.
- Rotation rotates the picture.
- Audio: the sound source, for example Windows Sounds or a microphone.
- Video overlay: the date and time, the mouse pointer or your own text on the video.
- Motion events: send motion events to the NVR/VMS when the PC is used.
- Encoder, with its settings button: the video quality (resolution, FPS and bitrate).
Test RTSP
Click Test RTSP.
Choose a stream and click OK. A test video opens. If you do not see it, click its button on the Windows taskbar.
Check the picture, then click OK in the DeskCamera message.
In a Remote Desktop session
Only the remote screens can be changed.
Approve and UnApprove
If Require Media Approval is turned on, every screen and webcam stays off until you click Approve, also the ones you already use. UnApprove takes the source off the camera again.
A source that you added
The pencil button opens Create Media Source with the saved settings.
The trash button removes the source. DeskCamera asks you to confirm. Click Yes.
