Frequently Asked Question
Use App Password to protect the DeskCamera application window. It helps prevent other users from changing DeskCamera settings, stopping the camera, or closing the application without the password.
When an App Password is set, it also protects supported command-line and remote deployment changes, such as changing Multi-user mode.
The App Password is only for the DeskCamera application. It is different from the ONVIF camera login used by an NVR/VMS, and it is different from the browser management password used for browser access.

Command-line and remote deployment changes
If an App Password is already set, command-line or remote deployment changes to protected settings are refused. Apply deployment settings before setting the App Password, or remove the App Password before running a later change.
Store deployment scripts carefully and do not share the password with users who should not be able to change DeskCamera settings.
For deployment examples, see Remote Deployment and configuring DeskCamera. For mode details, see Multi-user Mode and Lock Settings.
Multi-user mode
In Per-user mode, each Windows user can have their own DeskCamera settings and App Password.
If Lock Settings is enabled, the App Password is controlled together with other locked settings. Individual users cannot change it until settings are unlocked. For details, see Multi-user Mode and Lock Settings.
