Use this article when an NVR/VMS, video player, or another system asks for a direct RTSP stream address.

Each available stream, such as MainStream or SubStream, has its own RTSP URL. Copy the URL from DeskCamera instead of entering it manually.

Copy the RTSP URL

1) Open DeskCamera and make sure the camera is started.

2) In Started Cameras, click the Info button for the camera.

3) In Camera Details, select the stream you want to use.

4) Copy the RTSP URL shown on the right side of the window.

5) Paste the complete URL into the NVR/VMS, video player, or other system that should receive the stream.

Screen streams and Windows display numbers

For a screen source, DeskCamera keeps the stream tied to the Windows display number where possible, such as Display 1 or Display 2 shown in Windows Settings > System > Display. This helps the same screen stream stay recognizable when a display is reconnected or Windows changes its internal display name.

Always use the current RTSP URL shown by DeskCamera. With the default naming style, the screen URL follows this display identity. Other naming styles work differently. See RTSP URL Naming Options for details.

When to check the URL again

Check the current RTSP URL after changing between Multiple channels and Multiple cameras mode, changing the DeskCamera PC network address or ports, enabling or disabling media sources, or changing the monitor or docking layout. If the URL has changed, update it in the NVR/VMS or other system.

Connection notes

The RTSP URL works only while DeskCamera is running and the selected stream is available.

When opening the stream from another computer, make sure that computer can reach the DeskCamera PC over the network and that the RTSP port is allowed through the firewall. See Ports used by DeskCamera and Configuring firewall rules.
