Frequently Asked Question

Use this article to add DeskCamera to Blue Iris (the recording system). Blue Iris connects by RTSP. Add each screen or webcam by its RTSP URL (the direct address of one stream).

Before you start, in DeskCamera

1. Check that Camera Settings shows Started Cameras (1) or more. If it shows Offline, click Start.

   

2. Write down the Camera Address (the IP address and port) and the ONVIF User and password. Click the eye button to see the password.

   

3. To add one stream by its RTSP URL, copy the URL in Camera details. See Copy the Direct RTSP URL of a Stream.

The video shows how to add a DeskCamera screen and a webcam to Blue Iris. Some screens in the video may look different.

Good to know

• Always copy the RTSP URL. Do not build it from the source name.
• Copy the RTSP URL again after you change the PC's IP address, the ports, the camera mode or the RTSP URL format.

• NVR/VMS Cannot Find DeskCamera or Show Live Video
