Keep the Camera Running: Watchdog and Prevent Win Sleep
Last Updated 21 hours ago

Use this article to keep the camera running: the Watchdog restarts DeskCamera after a crash, and Prevent Win sleep keeps Windows from going to sleep.

Before you start

Both switches are in Camera Settings. Change them only while the camera is stopped.

The Prevent Win sleep and Watchdog switches in Camera Settings

Watchdog

While the camera runs, the Watchdog restarts DeskCamera after a crash, a freeze (DeskCamera stops responding) or a forced stop, for example from Task Manager. After you close DeskCamera or click Stop, the Watchdog does nothing.

Watchdog Off

Watchdog Off can show next to the status line for up to about 10 seconds after the start.

The status line Started Cameras (1) with the warning Watchdog Off

If it stays, close the DeskCamera window and click Yes to confirm. Then open DeskCamera again. If it still stays, send the log files to support.

Prevent Win sleep

When Prevent Win sleep is turned on, Windows does not go to sleep while the camera runs. Turn it on for a PC that must stream 24 hours a day.
