Frequently Asked Question
Use this article if an App window source shows the wrong window, or if it stops streaming.
The source stops streaming when the window title changes
Some programs change their window title, for example from "… {Idle}" to "… {Working}". With Find by set to Automatic, DeskCamera then cannot find the window when it opens again, or when DeskCamera starts. Use Title starts with.
Before you start
Open the program window. Do not minimize it.
Click Stop.
Open Video & Audio Settings and select the App window source.
Click the pencil button on its row.
In Application, choose the program window. If it is not in the list, click Refresh.
In Find by, choose Title starts with. DeskCamera fills in the full window title.
In the Title box, delete the part at the end that changes, for example " {Idle}".
Check that the line under the box shows "Only this window matches now".
Click OK.
Click Start.
If the start of the title changes too, choose Title contains and keep only the part that does not change.
"2 open windows match now"
DeskCamera uses one of these windows, and you cannot choose which one. Make the text in the Title box more exact.
A web browser or File Explorer source shows another window
With Automatic, the source can use another window of the same program when its own window closes. Use Title starts with or Title contains.
Several tabs of one browser window
Open each page that you stream in its own browser window.
The stream shows an old picture
If the program window is minimized, the stream can show the last picture. Do not minimize the window.
If it still does not work
- OK is gray: see A Setting Is Gray or Cannot Be Changed.
- Collect the log files and contact support. See Collecting DeskCamera Log Files.
