Choose the RTSP URL Format

Keep the default RTSP naming option unless your recording system needs another format. Always copy the complete address from DeskCamera rather than typing it from memory.

Choose a naming option

Default

Uses the stream name. For local screens, it follows the Windows display number where possible, helping the address stay the same after a monitor reconnects.

DevicePath

Uses the device's Windows path. Use this only for a specific compatibility need or when support recommends it.

Numeric

Uses short names such as screen1 or webcam0. These numbers can change when sources change; they are not necessarily the numbers in Windows Display settings.

Change the option

Before you change the format

The addresses change, and the old addresses stop working. The video settings of all screens (or all webcams) return to the defaults, and Manage by NVR is turned on again. Write down your video settings first.

With Numeric or DevicePath, a source has no SubStream. In the NVR/VMS, use the address of its one stream.

In DeskCamera, click Stop.
Click OPTIONS > General.
Under RTSP URL FORMAT, choose a format in Screens RTSP url or Webcams RTSP url.
DeskCamera asks you to confirm. Click Yes.
Click << BACK.
In Video & Audio Settings, set your video settings again.
Click Start.
Copy each new address and change it in your NVR/VMS. See Copy the Direct RTSP URL of a Stream.

If you use Remote Desktop, check the approvals of the remote screens again. If you had turned off Manage by NVR for a screen, turn it off again.
