DeskCamera can create an audio-only stream when you need to send microphone audio or Windows system sound without video.

Create an audio-only media source

1. Click Stop.

2. Open Video & Audio Settings.

3. Click + Add Media Source.

4. In Create Media Source, click Other source. In the list under it, choose Audio only.

5. Type a name for the source.

6. In Audio, choose the sound source, such as Default Microphone or Windows Sounds.

   

7. Click Validate Connection. The sound plays from the PC's speakers. Then click OK in the DeskCamera message.

8. Click OK to add the source.

9. Click Start.

Add the stream to your NVR/VMS

Most NVR/VMS cannot use an audio-only stream through ONVIF. Add the stream by its RTSP URL (the direct address of one stream):

1. In Started Cameras, click the Info button (i).
2. In Camera details, select MainStream under the audio-only source.
3. Click the copy icon at the right of the RTSP URL box.
4. Paste the address into your NVR/VMS or video player as an RTSP stream.

If it does not work

The NVR/VMS does not play the sound

Some NVR/VMS cannot record sound without video. To check, open the RTSP URL in a video player, for example VLC media player. If the sound plays there, your NVR/VMS does not support audio-only streams.

An audio-only camera in your NVR/VMS is offline

Remove that camera from the NVR/VMS. Then add the audio stream again by its RTSP URL, as described above.

The RTSP stream cannot connect

Check that the PC firewall allows DeskCamera network traffic. See Ports Used by DeskCamera and Firewall Rules.
