Frequently Asked Question
Use a Screen Area source to stream part of a screen, such as an application panel or dashboard. You can create more than one area.
Create a screen area
1) Click Stop, then open Video & Audio Settings.
2) Click Add Media Source (+). In Create Media Source, choose Defined area > Screen Area.
3) Enter a name, such as Dashboard, and select the screen to capture. Do not use RDPDisplay or that name followed by a number; these names are reserved for remote screens.
4) Click Setup. Drag inside the rectangle to move it, or drag an edge or corner to resize it. Click OK.
5) Check the screen and area size, then click OK again to add the source.
6) Click Start and preview the new source to check the captured area.
After changing monitors
The saved area follows the selected display number in Windows Settings > System > Display where possible.
Preview it after docking, reconnecting monitors, or changing display resolution. If the area is wrong, stop the camera, open Video & Audio Settings, and click the edit button next to the area's name. Select the correct screen and run Setup again.
During Remote Desktop
An area created for a local monitor may be unavailable during Remote Desktop. It returns when you use the local desktop again. To stream a remote screen, use RDPDisplay, RDPDisplay2, or another remote display instead. See Using DeskCamera with Remote Desktop.
Add the area to your NVR/VMS
The area appears as a channel or a separate camera. See Choosing Multiple Channels or Multiple Cameras Mode. For a direct stream address, see How to Retrieve Direct RTSP URLs.
